Russia’s Jan non-raw materials exports fall by 0.4% to $9.7 bln

MOSCOW, Mar 26 (PRIME) -- Russia’s non-raw materials exports contracted by 0.4% on the year to U.S. $9.7 billion in January, the Russian Export Center said in a statement on Thursday.

Exports of agricultural products rose by 9.6%, including exports of meat and dairy products, which soared by 77%, while exports of industrial products shrank by 2.6%. Exports of the chemical industry decreased by 22%, and exports of the car industry fell by 10%.

Exports of metals and precious metals grew by 13.4% in monetary terms in January, while exports of the light industry grew by 24%, of the pharmaceutical sector by 24%, and of the perfume and cosmetics sector by 6%.

“In January, international trade already started to experience the impact if the coronavirus infection, and it also affected Russia’s sales. In February and March, the disease reached a pandemic level and got to almost each country of the world, which worsened the situation. We are yet to calculate the impact of that,” the center said quoting CEO Veronika Nikishina.
